![]() ![]() This may explain why ISTJ and ESTJ are often described as the most difficult to get along with. He’s learning to not yell at Mordecai and Rigby, otherwise Pops will fire him something that conflicts with the way he was raised. In this clip, we get a great example of not only Benson’s anger management issue, something of an ESTJ trademark, but also his Si taking him back to his younger days when he was learning to be an adult gumball machine, which is why operates in the present day the way he does. “ I’ve always been a hard worker! What’s wrong with kids today!?” When you imagine the older generation screaming to the younger generation about how much harder it was back in the old days, and telling them to pull their pants up, it’s a perfect picture of I/ESTJ condemning I/ESFP for seeming lazy and unmotivated. It seems like people should already know what they should or shouldn’t do so for any time to be wasted is just that much more annoying. It could be said that because Benson was raised in a certain way (the “right” way), his encounters with other people doing things the the “wrong” way, is what frustrates him to no end. Si is comparing current situations to previous, similar ones. Not that he can be blamed entirely, he is dealing with some pretty crazy stuff and several incompetent workers.īenson’s second function, Introverted Sensing, is what makes his Te feel so obliged to scream at his employees when they’re not doing a good job. ![]() There’s rarely ever a clear explanation or making them understand the beneficial reasons behind what they’re doing (which could motivate them to do a better job), he gets mad and we get this. “ You don’t need to know ‘why,’ just do what I tell you.” Benson’s use of this is clear with Rigby and Mordecai. Te doesn’t want to figure out how or why things work, like Ti does- it’s much more concerned with knowing enough to get things done. It’s much more confrontational than Introverted Thinking. Te involves organizing, planning, operating, and telling people what to do. If you do relate, you’re an ESTJ and don’t see anything wrong with his reaction.ĮSTJs first function is Extraverted Thinking. If you don’t think it sounds familiar, it’s because you are the ESTJ and don’t know how people see you. Sound familiar at all? In real life, you’d most likely be Rigby (the raccoon) and your boss would be Benson. It almost seems as though an ESTJ description had been read to the creators and they went off of that. No children’s cartoon character may have ever displayed the ESTJ functions as well as Benson the pissed-off gumball machine has. ![]()
